Violence against the Latinx Community: The Role of Hate and Bias Victimization on Mental Health

This webinar delves into the critical issue of violence against the Latinx community in the United States, with a specific focus on how hate crimes, bias-motivated incidents, and acculturative stress all contribute to negative mental health outcomes.

Learning Objectives:
1. Participants will be able to identify the extent to which bias motivated violence is perpetrated against the Latinx community.
2. Participants will be aware of the unique role of hate crime and bias motivated violence on the mental health of Latinx adults.
3. Participants will be aware of the role of acculturative stress on mental health among Latinx adults.

The Presenter is Division 56’s current President, Dr. Carlos A. Cuevas. Dr. Cuevas is an Associate Professor and Co-Director of the Violence and Justice Research Laboratory at Northeastern University in the School of Criminology and Criminal Justice.
